The Future of UXR: Life After COVID
UXRConf Anywhere 2020
Now featured on Learners
When all design researchers were suddenly forced to rapidly adapt to a fully remote work environment, my colleague Remi and I recognized that this event would change the way we work forever.
In this talk, we broke down not only how design researchers, their clients, and their companies were adjusting to fully remote work environments, but what the experience of switching to fully remote work during the pandemic meant for the future of work in our discipline.
Sustainable Healthcare: Transforming an Industry
SXSW 2020
This panel discussion represents a hopeful and sustainable future for healthcare. Hearing from experts at the intersection of sustainability and healthcare, our audience learns what’s being done and explores opportunities in this space. This session demonstrates the potential of maintaining safety standards and quality without compromising sustainability. Our audience learns to think beyond the norms we’ve come to accept and is inspired to take action within and beyond healthcare.
The panel featured leaders from Johnson and Johnson, Mayo Clinic, Practice Green Health, and LIA Diagnostics. It was received with excitement by SXSW and featured on the main page of the SXSW website.
Your Voice Assistant Will See You Now: Reducing Complexity in Human and Artificial System Collaboration Using Voice as an Operating System
IHSI International Conference
In this chapter and presentation, Maia and her colleagues discussed the concerns and questions that must be addressed with the rising adoption of voice technology. This paper and presentation highlighted how companies are addressing the issues with artificial systems by designing systems that are safer, more accurate, and more trustworthy.
Meetup Organizer
Research Rewind
Since joining the Research Rewind team as Talent Manager, I served as a major contributor to the group by finding speakers, organizing venues and event sponsors, hosting events, and strategizing the Research Rewind brand and event series.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maia led the meetup’s social media strategy by sharing relevant content and adding weekly prompts for community engagement.
Doing Guerrilla Research Right

I gave a detailed overview of guerrilla research, including: what it is, how guerrilla methods compare with traditional methods, and how to strategize and conduct your own guerrilla research study. I also shared two distinct case studies to demonstrate the dissimilar forms guerrilla methods can take, and how different approaches fit the needs of different projects.
